The Heart-O-Texas Good Sam Chapter supports several benevolent organizations. These included the following:
P.E.T. - Personal Energy Transportation
The P.E.T. project began in 1995 as a ministry for those in greatest need of mobility. The P.E.T. Project ministry continues growing to serve the overwhelming needs in some of the most desperate places in the world. The three-wheeled, hand-cranked wheelchairs called a bike in some third world countries and a cart in others is call a P.E.T by the organization.
P.E.T. serves those individuals who have lost the use of their legs due to landmines, disease, accident or injury and cannot be served by a regular wheelchair.
P.E.T.s are built by volunteers using mostly donated components. There are P.E.T. production centers in Florida, Missouri, Texas, Tennessee, Alabama, New York and Zambia. The local P.E.T center is:
Other Supported Activities
Hayes County Food Bank: Monthly monetary donations.
Dogs for the Deaf: Semi-annual monetary donations.
Special Olympics: Monetary donation made each Spring.
